    The story The Measure of My Days by Florida Scott-Maxwell is a short tale that is very intricate and beautiful. The story talks about aging and about how old people view aging as well as what to look forward to when getting old. What to look out for and how to live when you age. The thoughts experienced in this story are very deep and somewhat dark when talking about death. Although that is how death is talked about amongst old people. In which they talk about their health, disability, living alone after one has passed, and thinking about how much longer they have left. Florida Scott Maxwell makes death seem almost like a friend, in which she shares that to a certain extent after a while, death is your friend and is welcomed. Florida Scott-Maxwell does a phenomenal job talking about how to survive and how to thrive as you get older though. 

    The quote above demonstrates the idea of how she talks about how to thrive and live as you get older. Florida Scott-Maxwell states that you need to live for the little things in life. She says that there are good and bad things about getting older but if you can appreciate what you have when you have it you will age with grace. The way in which Scott-Maxwell writes about getting old shows a side that yes things do change and get worse. Although there are things to look forward to, your body may not work the same but there is beauty in tiny things in life, like your bed, your favorite food, and the sun. Life is full of beauty.
