    The text From Landscape for a Good Woman Demonstrated how families and or parents highly impacted their children. Carolyn is an excellent example of this as she talks about for the majority of the text her relationship with her mother throughout her childhood. Steedman mother tried her best to push her views on Steedman with wealth, them being frugal, and even her relationship with her father. In this text, you can see her mother's dream conflicted with hers as she wanted a less traditional life her mom just wanted to be a celebrity. The majority of this text was talking about their wealth in which they were frugal although her mother owned nice things which set her above others. This leads to her mother's views on their life and views on their father. 

    I chose this quote because it helps to demonstrate her mother's discontent with the lack of wealth they had, which she could use to make her dream life. This made her discontent with their life and her father, in which she pushes Steedman to hate her father. Steedman mother had a way to influence her daughter and her opinions on their wealth up until she began school. Steedman education was a way out, a way to think differently than her mother and question her life. Steedman then realizes that they are middle class, and sees that her mother is wrong in eras of her life. She questions a lot and regrets her relationship with her father, her education made her more aware of her situation.
