    From The Life and Words of a ! Kung Woman by Nisa is about Nisa's life in her village growing up as well as her life experience in her marriage. The story is broken up by her early childhood years and her marriage. Nisa explained her life to give others insight into her life, while her village was not able to see her work. Nisa writes a lot about her life from her perspective as a woman and through her mother, as well as her marriage. In a way, her writing expresses how her culture views and sees women in the home as well as in their own village and or society. 

    The quotes I chose from above are supposed to demonstrate how her writing expressed how her society viewed women, and her. The first quote talks about her marriage at the very beginning with her husband in order to show that she ran away and did not want to be married to her husband. She had only done it because society and her family wanted her to get married. She ended up living with him and being with him because it was placed on her by her society even though she didn't agree with it she had to. Nisa's father stated that was to show how society forced her into it. Women were supposed to follow their husbands and be there for their needs, which was even shown with her mother having her brother and almost getting killed and her father was okay with it because he would have had both children.

    The second quote demonstrates how women in her society were really only shown to have sex in order to have children like Nisa's mother. While Nisa refused her husband demonstrated, even more, her pushback against her society's rules. Women were only good for sex, and producing children for men. Many times they didn't even care if the woman had died even though the reason many women did not want to have children was that they were afraid of being killed for their husband's child that they didn't want to have.
