    From West with the Night is a story about Beryl Markham's life. Specifically, it is a story about her flying her plane to pick up her friend's husband and workers from an expedition in Africa. Beryl Markham is trying to find them and pick them up as they had barely any food left to last them for a while. Beryl Markham had found that they were stuck within the landscape. Only two of them who asked for the expedition had worked to make a runway to get reduced, while the others did nothing as they had no food and were starving. The story talks about how Beryl Markham used her skills in order to land and make several trips on a tiny runway to save these men. In a way, the story talks about her bravery and how she was an amazing pilot who has seen a lot of things in her day. 

    The quote from above was significant if talking about Berly Markham and who she was as a pilot. Beryl Markham was a female pilot at the time of World War 2, and she had seen a lot. Markham has had a life full of friends, danger, and adventure. A life that not many people had the luxury of having especially a woman during this time. Beryl was an amazing woman who had skills well beyond any man, in which she saved the lives of the men in this story. The use of this story was to tell readers about her life and talk about her ability to be a pilot and live her life to the fullest even at a time when these things felt terrible.
