    From the war is an account from Marguerite Duras about her husband and his coming back from war.

She talks about how she would wait for days to figure out if he was alive or not going to the "center". Marguerite Duras's account shows not only how it impacted her husband but how it impacted her throughout the whole time. He was her rock, and Robert was her will to live. The quote from above exhibits this as she had lost her newborn, and had no husband around. She was waiting to hear or see from him, she was completely alone. Robert was the only thing that kept her going there was nothing to fight for if he was gone. Marguerite's struggle is one that is extreme no one could have possibly understood her in any capacity. She lost her child and her husband to war.  Already she was a ball of nerves and depression. 

    When Robert finally came home he couldn't eat, or he would have killed himself. Marguerite was in pain at the very beginning when she was him and he was unrecognizable, all the way to having to tell him no to eating. She had that she couldn't do very much and he was on the verge of life or death. When he finally starts to gain wait she says she did too and they both had strength. Which demonstrates their connection and how much they both went through together. Marguerite's story is one that demonstrates what it was like as a woman in wartime trying to help her husband and make sure there alive. All the stress, depression, and anxiety is one that all women at this time were experiencing in full form.
